Auto Transport Services, Inc. has provide below, answers to a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and concerns most of our customers usually have, regarding their shipping needs and transport of their vehicle. How much does it cost to ship my vehicle?

Transport cost is base on distance of pick up, delivery and the size of vehicle you are shipping. We accept Visa, Master Card, COD’s and Money wire transfers.




How many days in advance should I schedule my vehicle for transportation?

We recommend you schedule your vehicle at least one to two weeks prior to the time frame you are requesting for pick up. The more advance notice we receive, more likely your vehicle will be delivered in a timely manner.




How long will my vehicle take to pick up and deliver? Local and Long distance

There are several factors involved with the pick up and delivery of your vehicle. We have multiple vehicles picking up and delivering at the same time as your vehicle. If your vehicle is to be picked up in a major city, on average we can pick up within one to three days. If your vehicle is in a remote area this may take three to five days. Pick-up and delivery also depends on where your vehicle are picking up at, distance between the pick-ups and deliveries, and the weather. If your vehicle needs to be picked up immediately we can make those arrangements for an additional charge. Vehicles delivering across the country could take up to 10-14 days.




Can I ship personal goods or household items in my vehicle when shipping my car?

No. The Department of Transport does not allow for the transportation of personal or household items in a car that is being hauled by an auto carrier. Personal and household items are not covered by the car carrier insurance. Trucks have weight limitations imposed by the Department of Transportation with which they must comply. The added weight of personal and household items may put the car carrier over-weight. This may cause delays in the pick-up and delivery of the vehicle. By violating this federal law, the car carrier can be fined up to $10,000. No personal or household item will be shipped, or you may and will be subject to an additional surcharge, additionally these items are not covered by insurance, and we are not responsible for any loss or damage of said items.




Does some one need to be present when you pick up or deliver our vehicle?

Yes, we require you or someone over the age of eighteen to be present upon pick-up of your vehicle. All trucks have a contract (bill of lading) that needs to be signed by you or an agent at the point of departure. If you or your agent can not be there please call our office prior to the pick up date, to confirm alternate arrangements. Please keep in mind if there are any changes to the pick-up or delivery destination after your order has been placed, there may be an additional charge.




Can I drop off my vehicle at a terminal to save time?

Yes, we have several terminals within most major cities. Prior to the booking your order, please make these arrangements for this service. If you drop off your vehicle at a terminal you can save some of the transport costs in most cases.




How does door-to-door service work?

Door-to-door service means the truck driver will get as close to your door as he can legally and safely. Many cities have restrictions on large trucks that prohibit them from driving into some residential areas. Transport truck are an average of 75 ft. long, weigh about 78,000 lbs., and are built low to the ground, and require lots of space to maneuver and turn around. If your home is restricted by narrow streets, low-hanging trees, speed bumps or tight turns, the driver may ask you to meet the truck at a different destination.




How am I notify if Transporter Auto Services is coming to pick up or deliverer my vehicle?

The driver calls twelve to twenty hours prior to the pick up and deliver to make arrangements. If the drive calls and no one answers he will leave his cell phone number so you can return the call.




How do I prepare my vehicle for transportation?

Shipper must furnish carrier with necessary keys to vehicle and access to all compartments. We require a minimal amount of fuel in your tank. Only ¼ quarter tank or less is sufficient. You need to remove any loose parts. Phones, radio, and CB antennas that do not retract need to be removed. Bed liners or shells that are not bolted down may blow off or they may get damaged.




What paperwork do I need in order to ship my vehicle?

In order to transport your vehicle Department of Transportation does not required you to have any paper work because your vehicle is not on the highway. Upon pick up of your vehicle the driver and you or your agent will do a walk around the vehicle and inspect for any pre-existing damage. We ask for your signature or your agents’ signature on this bill of lading.




Does my vehicle have Insurance during transportation?

Yes, vehicles are covered at market value while in possession of the driver.




What should the customer do if the vehicle arrives with damage?

Please make sure that you let the driver know that the damage is new and were not on the original bill of lading. All damages should be marked and noted clearly and let the driver sign off on them. The next step is to contact the car carrier who transported your vehicle and let them know as soon as possible. Some car carriers have a day limit so make sure you do it right away.




Do you guarantee a pick up or delivery date?

Unless you specifically pay for an enclosed or "hot-shot" transport, be wary of any transporter that says they can pick you up on a specific day.  Most auto transporters utilize seven or ten-car carriers to move several vehicles at once, and they plan out their routes to pickup vehicles accordingly.  Transporter Auto Services will make the best attempt to accommodate your needs. We will provide you with an estimated transit time that your vehicle will take, in order that you plan ahead. We can not guarantee a delivery or a pick up date. We pick up and delivery several vehicle during the same time frame as your order. If any other customer on the same car carrier does not follow the same arrangements that we are giving to you, this will and can put the truck behind schedule. Unfavorable weather conditions, traffic situations, and mechanical breakdowns, can also cause delay pick-ups and deliveries.




How long is my transport quoted cost good for?

Our quotes are base on fuel and demand. The quote that is provided to you is good for 7 business days. However, Transporter Auto Services Inc. reserves the right to adjust any and all quotes.
